Jennifer Garner was born on the 17th of April, 1972 in Houston, Texas but was born to be raised in Charleston, West Virginia. William John Garner is her father. He worked as chemical engineers for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner, the mother of Patricia Ann, taught at an area college. The father of her was an engineer in the chemical industry which is why she wanted to be like him. Then she moved into New York in order to pursue her dream of becoming an actor. As she appeared in Broadway plays, she also was a waitress at an adjacent restaurant. Her former husband Scott Foley met her on the television show "Felicity," where she played a cameo. Garner made her debut in Alias, an action thriller. Her first major performance was in the highly praised romance 13 Going on 30. In it she played the teenage girl trapped in a thirty+ year old's body. Garner chose Gary Winick, who directed the film. Both Winick and Garner were able to continue to collaborate in pursuing other projects even after the death of Winick. Garner has been designated as an ambassador for artists with Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009, was a key role in the organization. The program focuses on education, nutrition, and literacy as well as early education. Garner was elected to the board of directors of this non-profit organisation in 2014. As an ambassador she visits frequently with families that are part of Early Steps to School Success the program which trains parents in how to assist the children in learning.
